1. System Information
1.1 GPEM1500-A System configuration
GPEM1500-A consists of distribution unit, rectifier module, conversion module, monitoring module. The configuration is optional, as table below:

1.2 GPEM1500-A Operating principle
GPEM1500-A consists of two modules: rectifier module (GPR4830A1) and conversion module (GPDA1000VA-G), system configuration is as below:

Two operating methods:
1. AC input:Startup rectifier module after AC powered-on, outputs -48Vdc,at the same time charge the battery and power the conversion module, conversion module outputs 220Vaac.
Under normal conditions, the parameters of rectifier module and distribution unit are all under controll of the monitoring module, operating according to the preset parameters or user’s commands. If AC mains fault, the battery will power to the system, and continue outputing - 48 VDC and 220 vac, with the discharge of the battery, the voltage of the battery starts to descend, when the voltage is under 43.2 V + / - 0.5 V, the monitoring module send battery under-voltage signal and close the load output directly, then the power system will stop working. When external AC mains recovers, the system will normally work again. (all above monitoring data are system default values and can be reset by user)
2. -48V input:No AC current or no AC be connected, access external power -48V to -48V load port,
startup monitoring and conversion module, 220Vac output.
Temperature compensation function is on by default, which can be activated or forbiddened by user’s command if necessary. Operation temperature ≥55℃, the power output of the power supply will be linearly reduced (@65℃,output power will be 1300W).

3.1 Electrical connection
Electric connection between chassis and external parts is through system interface board.

4. Instruction of Monitoring Module of GPEM1500-A
Monitoring module equipped with powerful detecting and controlling functions, which enables it to do real time detection to the power supply and control upon rectifier module according to detected data, for the purpose of meeting maintenance and management requirements of the battery groups and ensure reliable operating of the whole power system. It can receive queries, settings and control from the host through RS485 and report detected status and mechanical data to the host for the convenience of centralized management.
4.1 Feature
1. Equipped with RS485, through which the host can conduct query, setup, control and telemetering, remote control and remote signaling for the convenience of centralized management;
2. To manage the battery power down, battery charge/discharge, battery temperature detection, battery temperature compensation;
3. 3 dry contacts output;
4. LED indicator is located on the front panel and have alarm function.
4.2 Function of monitoring module
The user interface of monitor module, rectifier module, conversion module, whole system and remote configuration via PC software are described in the block diagram. The power system communicates with the host via RS485, and it is point to multipoint communication, that’s one supervisory PC monitors several power systems.

Remote Monitoring of the Host
The monitoring module provides the host with RS485 Ports, through this port the host can remotely monitor the system and achieve remote massage/sense/control. RS485 networking is applicable from a distance within 1.2KM and RS232 for field communication. Main functions of monitor:
(1) Send real time analog data from the monitoring module to the host;
(2) Send real time digital data from the monitoring module to the host;
(3) Receive orders of the host including setting system parameters and start-up/shutdown of modules;
(4) Receive control commands from the host;
(5) Send alarm status the host.
All operations of reading, setting and controlling shall be conducted by the host. The monitoring module shall not report information without specific orders of the host.

Rectifier Management by Monitoring Module
The monitoring module sends controlling orders to or receives parameter from the rectifier module through RS485.
(1) Regulate the output voltage: The monitor regulate equalizing/float charge through background software and works out system output voltage based on status of system equalizing/float charge;
(2) Control start-up/shutdown of rectifier module;
(3) Check the output voltage, current, fan rotation and module failure alarm of rectifier module to ensure the normal operation.
Conversion Management by Monitoring Module
The monitoring module sends controlling orders to or receives parameter from the conversion module through RS485.
(1) Control start-up/shutdown of conversion module;
(2) Check the output voltage, current, fan rotation and module failure alarm of conversion module to ensure the normal operation.

Battery Management

Type

Description

Battery rectifying

The system background outputs alarm when the output voltage is under preset battery rectifying.

Battery power down

Under situation of battery discharge, when the voltage is below preset battery shutdown voltage, the battery DC relay will break off and shutdown all loads, cut off the connection between battery and system. The system will not work until the re-power on.

Battery configure

1. Fixed current charging: when the configuration is the 20-50Ah battery, the charge coefficient will be set to 5A; when the configuration is the 50-100Ah battery, the charge coefficient will be set to 10A. Specific settings such as the electrical connection diagram shown in the port 5 (temperature compensation port and the battery charging coefficient adjustment port), to adjust the dial code and set to the corresponding 5A/10A. (system default settings)

2. Adjustable current charging: through the background monitoring software to open the adjustable charge current switch and set the value of the charge current. (optional)

Battery equalizing/float charge management

When the battery charge current is high than pre-set upper value, the system will conduct equalizing charge of constant current (CC). If the CC equalizing charge reaches equalizing charge voltage, the system will act equalizing charge of constant voltage (CV). The system will float charge when the CV equalizing charge current is below current of equalizing charge shift to float charge. Under situation of float charge current more than current of float charge shift to equalizing charge, and the duration of system equalizing/float charge reaches preset time, the system will automatically equalize charge. The system will automatically shift to float charge if CV equalizing charge duration exceeds preset value and the manual equalized charge will change over to equalizing charge.

Temperature compensation

Under situation of temperature compensation on, when the battery temperature is above 25℃, the system acts temperature compensation and if the battery temperature is below 25℃, the system acts minus compensation. The compensation value (equals to temperature*coefficient) shall not be greater than 2V.

Battery power down: if the mains fails, then the system power supply will be changed from the battery, with the discharge of the battery and the battery terminal voltage begin to decline, when the battery voltage is below the pre-set under-voltage point of battery voltage, monitoring module will report DC under-voltage alarm signal; when the battery voltage drops to battery power down voltage (adjustable), the monitoring module will control relay to close all the loads, and then the power system will stop working. When the mains recovers, the system will normally work again (the user can reset the parameters).
